Lake Boating Guidelines

ASSOCIATION GUIDELINES AND DNR BOATING REGULATIONS FOR OLIVER, OLIN, AND MARTIN LAKES

  1. Skiing/jet skiing/tubing/etc. are only allowed on Oliver Lake and only between sunrise and sunset.
  2. All watercraft are to stay 200 feet from shore.
  3. Idle speed only in Basin Lake on Oliver Lake and in Olin and Martin Lakes.
  4. Loud radios and music are discouraged on the lake.
  5. Practice courtesy and use common sense as the public waters are for everyone.
  6. No boat shall travel at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the conditions and hazards, both actual and potential, of the lake.
  7. Between sunset and sunrise, boat speed may not exceed ten (10) miles per hour.
  8. All moving traffic on the lake should proceed in a counter clockwise manner.
  9. No person is allowed to throw, dump, or deposit any litter, trash, or unwholesome substance in the public waters.
  10. No boat shall operate loaded with passengers or cargo beyond its safe carrying capacity.
  11. All boats should have at least one (1) life preserver for every person on board.
  12. No person under the age of fourteen (14) years may operate a watercraft with a horsepower rating in excess of ten (10) horsepower, except when accompanied by a person over the age of eighteen (18).

The above guidelines are Lake Association rules plus some DNR laws. DNR boating laws always take precedent.
